Despondency, sadness, anger and hope are all sensations contained in “Places”. Everything in this new song by If I Die Today tells of a lacerating, devastating, raw and sudden loss, an introduction to the album “The Abyss In Silence” which will be released in the coming months. Closing your eyes and listening to the song thoroughly, you find yourself immersed in the dark pitch of suffering. The thin instrumental line, almost acoustic, dominated by deep lacerating screams which, like a mantra, try to exorcise the deep gash in the listener’s soul. The final, almost cinematic restart, when everything seems over and defeat now seems the only solution, rekindles the hope of an eternal peace away from suffering and all the darkness that has been crossed so far. “Places” is a cry for help, a “May Day” of those who find themselves, at the last minute, on the edge of the precipice of horror and of the innermost fear of eternal loneliness.
