Hailing from Berlin with members from France, Italy, Germany and Romania, Slow Jams has been busy honing their heavy yet groovy, nostalgic yet modern type of hardcore since December 2017 with the mission of bringing fun back into a scene that has seen too much tough-guy bullshit machismo.
Their first full length release, 2018’s “To the Bone”, out on Mustard Moustache, was 9 tracks of fast, aggressive, catchy and energetic ‘early 00’s‘ style hardcore that established their DIY credentials (entirely self-recorded and mixed, and later mastered by Riccardo Pasini – Studio73)
and also saw them scoring gigs opening for bands like Evergreen Terrace, Frontierer, Leeway, Slapshot and Spit as well as touring in Germany and Italy.
After 2019’s tour with Texan brothers in Drip-Fed around Germany and the Czech Republic, 2020 sees Slow Jams release the ‘Heavy Blues’ 7-inch, 4 tracks that amp up the heaviness but also add a tasty, fat layer of 90’s grunge melodic catchiness. Recorded at Tricone Studios in
Berlin’s historic Funkhaus by Juanfe Rehm and mixed by Riccardo Pasini, ‘Heavy Blues’ is out in Feb on 5feetUnder records (Denmark), Sengaja Records (Ger) and Financial Ruin (USA).
Furious tracks like “Determined Law” and “Reanimator” are the peak of the style they established on ‘To the Bone’ , while “Griefcase” and “Body Fidelity” show SJ’s new song-writing direction and are the type of cuts that breach the boomer/zoomer divide.
